10 YEARS AGO MAY 14, 2014 The fate of Cleveland County's proposed 2 percent sales tax, as well as one position on the Quorum Court, will be decided next Tuesday in the preferential primary and special election. The tax proposal, if approved by voters, will fund the county's solid waste program and eliminate the quarterly trash bills that residents are currently paying. Also, the election will determine the winner in the District 9 Justice of the Peace race between incumbent Charles Rodgers, Jr., and former sheriff Judy King. Rodgers and King are running on the Democratic ticket.
