RISON - Peyton Wells and Brayden Jones combined to throw a two-hitter last Friday as the Woodlawn Bears knocked off the Rison Wildcats, 13-1, in six innings at Wildcat Field. This second matchup between the Cleveland County rivals played out differently than the first time when the Bears had to hold off a late Wildcat rally for a 9-8 win at Woodlawn.

Ouachita Scores Late To Tie, Edges Rison in Extra Innings

DONALDSON - Ouachita scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings then had a two-out single in the bottom of the eighth as the Warriors rallied past the Rison Wildcats, 65, Monday afternoon at Donaldson. The 8-2A conference loss dropped Rison to 5-6 in league play and 7-10 overall.

Lady Bears Split With 4A Schools

MONTICELLO – Monticello pitcher Alaina Lyle threw a twohitter and struck out 13 as the Lady Billies moved to 20-0 overall with an 8-0 victory over the Woodlawn Lady Bears Monday at Monticello. It was the Lady Billies' 15th shutout of the season.

FORDYCE - Garrett Weatherford and Parker Arnold had RBI singles in the top of the ninth as the Woodlawn Bears escaped Fordyce with a 6-4 win over the Redbugs Tuesday evening at Fordyce. It was Woodlawn's 12th consecutive victory as the Bears remain perfect in 8-2A conference play at 9-0 and are 23-1 overall.

GURDON - The Rison Lady Wildcats placed in five events at the Georgia Pacific Relays held at Gurdon High School last Thursday, Coach Cicely GreenSimpson announced. Josie Farrer finished third in the 400 meter run while the 4x400 meter relay team of Kayla Jackson, Mercy Cer, Lara Sotres and Josie Farrer was third as well.

Star City's Vereen Selected To Lead RHS Football Team

RISON - Chris Vereen, who has led the Class 4A Star City Bulldog football program for the past six seasons, has been named the new head football coach for the Rison High School Wildcats. The Cleveland County School Board approved Vereen's hiring during its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

RISON - Brock Southerland pitched a complete game shutout as the Rison Wildcats blanked the Fordyce Redbugs, 8-0, Friday in 8-2A conference action at Wildcat Field. Southerland scattered five hits with four walks while striking out six to give the ‘Cats a split with the ‘Bugs in league play.
