Vemon Randy Dollar, 73, of Rison, passed away on April 3, 2024.

Vemon was bom July 21, 1950 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to his father Vemon Dollar, and mother Elba Goodner Dollar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Dollar; and sister Catherine Cotnam.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol Dollar; his son, Shane Dollar and wife, Andrea; his daughter, Tracy Stuckey and husband, Brad; and five grandchildren, Austin Dollar, Dawson Stuckey, Mallory Stuckey, Taylor Dollar and Cambry Stuckey.

He graduated from Lakeside High School in 1968 and entered the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam. Upon discharge from the Air Force, he worked for the Garland County Sheriffs Department until he was hired by the Arkansas State Police in 1973. He was stationed in Cleveland County, his first and only assignment.

After thirty plus years with the Arkansas State Police, he retired and served as Cleveland County Judge for two terms. He then served as mayor of Rison for 14 years.

Vemon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing board games with his family. He was active at Rison Baptist Church, serving as deacon and working with the youth over the years. Throughout his time in Rison, he devoted countless hours to the youth in the community, coaching pee wee football, Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, giving swimming lessons, umpiring and serving in any way needed. He loved subbing at Rison High school and volunteering with Rison Wildcat Athletics. Vemon lived a full life and helped countless others along the way.

Services were held at Rison Baptist Church Saturday, April 6.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Bowlin, Jim Cummings, Dennis Duran, Muny Freeman, Terry Haywood, Brian Lowery, Bill McKnight, Roth Rabb, Rodney Reed, Jack Rogers and Clay Totty. Honorary Pallbearers were all Rison Wildcat Athletes and Coaches, Past and Present.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rison Baptist Church or Rison High School Athletics.
