  • BACKWOODS POULTRY SHOW - Brian Gates marks off an entry in the bantam competition at the Backwoods Poultry Show held this past Saturday at the Cleveland County Fairgorunds in Rison. Frankie Harper of Rison, organizer of the event, said this year's show drew entries from as far away as Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. In total, he said just under 400 birds took part in the competition.

This is a Modern Game bantam. According to a post on Wikipedia, Modern Game is a breed of ornamental chicken which originated in England between 1850 and 1900. It was developed purely for exhibitions.
