Potter Powers Rison Past Murfreesboro; Knock Off Foreman

PARKERS CHAPEL - Layne Potter went 4-for-4 with three doubles while MacKenzie King went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Rison Lady Wildcats knocked off the Murfreesboro Lady Rattlers, 7-3, in the Class 2A South Region semifinals on Friday at Parkers Chapel.Potter had the first of hre three doubles to lead off the bottom of the first, and after a one-out walk to Carlese Johnson, King singled to score Potter. Haven Simpson's fly ball allowed Johnson to tag up for a run, and Carlie Crain had a hit to bring King home for a 3-0 Lady Wildcat lead.Murfreesboro used a couple of singles in the top of the second to scratch out a run before Rison answered with three more in the fourth.Singles by Riley Hyatt, Potter and Breanna Taylor plated one run for the Lady 'Cats before King singled into right to drive in two more for a 6-1 advantage.The Lady Rattlers used a fielder's choice and a double in the sixth to cut it to 6-3 before Potter led off the bottom of the frame with another double and then scored on a hit by Taylor to make it a 7-4 final.In addition to Potter's three doubles, Rhagen Price also had one. Taylor finished with two singles for Rison while Edwards, Crain and Price had one apiece.Johnson started inside the circle for Rison, scattering three hits without a walk over three innings. Edwards allowed three hits without a walk over the final four frames.
