LITTLE ROCK - Maybe you haven't seen them, with their dark green hard-shell bodies and large red eyes, but you may be hearing the trademark buzzsaw sound of the cicada. The insects have made headlines for months because of the emergence of two broods - an occurrence two centuries in the making - is expected to bring astronomical numbers of these insects above ground.

RISON - Parents of students in kindergarten through 3rd grade in the Cleveland County School District could be getting a better idea of how their child is learning as Rison Elementary looks at possibly including "standards based" report cards for the lower grades starting next school year.

WOODLAWN - Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock told the Woodlawn School Board Monday night that enrollment "is knocking on the door" of 600 students as the board accepted 42 transfer requests into the district through the state's School Choice Act.

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn High School graduated 50 students as part of the senior class of 2024 in a ceremony Tuesday evening, May 14, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. Of the 50 students, 21 seniors graduated with honors, including: Valedictorian Kaylea Aryn Chastain.
