Annual Jakes Day Is This Saturday
RISON - The Cleveland County Cutter and Strutter’s annual Jakes Day Youth Event will be held this Saturday, March 6, at the Moore Turkey Farm south of Rison. Registration begins at 7:45 p.m. with the first session scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
The Moore Turkey Farm is located a few miles south of Rison on Mt. Elba Road. Signs will be posted to direct visitors to the Jakes Day event.
James Wilson of the “Y” community, one of the organizers, said youth will go through eight stations at this year’s event.
Jakes Day is a program developed by the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) designed to appeal to youth age 17 and younger. The typical Jakes Day event features exhibits and demonstrations that promote conservation and the outdoors.
The Cutters and Strutters are the local NWTF chapter, and have been recognized statewide as having one of the largest and best-attended Jakes Day events in Arkansas.
