Woodlawn May Have Board Race; CCSB To Be Uncontested

RISON - A contested race has developed for the position up for election on the Woodlawn School Board, while David Taylor is the lone candidate who filed for the Zone 3 seat currently held by Mark Rivers on the Cleveland County School Board.
Charles Hoover of 11820 Hwy. 63 in the Rowell area was the only candidate to file for the Woodlawn School Board race before Friday’s deadline to get his name on the Sept. 21 school election ballot.
Hoover filed to run for the seat currently held by board secretary Larry Reynolds.
Reynolds said in a telephone interview Monday that he was out-of-town on vacation last week and did not have an opportunity to file before the filing deadline ended at noon Friday.
However, Reynolds told The Herald that he intends to register with the county clerk’s office of his intent to run as a write-in candidate this week.
The county clerk’s office reported early Wednesday morning that Reynolds had picked up the paperwork to file as a write-in candidate on Monday, but had not turned in the papers as of Wednesday morning. Reynolds had until noon Wednesday to turn in the papers.
