Lady Bears Dismantle Fordyce Ladybugs, 24-0

FORDYCE - A seven-day layoff between games didn't seem to impact the Woodlawn Lady Bears much Monday as they cranked out 17 hits in a 24-0 demolition of the Fordyce Ladybugs in an 8-2A conference game at Fordyce.Six of those hits went for extra bases as Jaci Hoyt and Kendall Tooke both had homeruns while Anna Fitzgibbon had three doubles and Madi West had one.Woodlawn took control early by putting up nine runs in the opening frame.Fitzgibbon's first double of the game drove in two runs before a bases-loaded error led to three more scoring for a quick 5-0 Lady Bear lead. Erin West then scored on a wild pitch before Kathryn Dixon brought home two more with a single. Another error plated one more run to make it 9-0 before a pick-off at second brought the top half of the first to a close.Tooke had a solo homerun to lead off the second inning before Fitzgibbon followed with a double and Macy Harrison singled. Both runners eventually scored on an error extending the Lady Bears' lead to 12-0. Madi West then delivered a two-out single to tack on another run to make it 13-0.Woodlawn invoked the 15-run rule by scoring 11 more runs in the top of the third.Fitzgibbon had a two-run double, Lily White had a RBI single, Karsyn Chastian had a sacrifice fly to score a run, Madi West drove in a run with a double, Hoyt had a three-run homerun, and Harrison and White both had RBI singles before the inning ended with the Lady Bears up 24-0.Jaimie Simmons, a sophomore, pitched all three innings for Woodlawn. She gave up two hits and one walk while striking out four.Fitzgibbon finished with four hits and four RBIs for the day. Dixon had three hits while Madi West, Tooke, Harrison and White had two apiece.Hoyt and White drove in three runs apiece while Madi West, Dixon and Harrison had two RBIs each.Woodlawn improved to 15-5 overall and 5-0 in 8-2A conference play with the victory.
